Prayer

O God on high,

Before the foundation of the world, You have loved us. In all Your creation, what we behold is abundant love—all that You made for the well-being of humanity. You spoke, and the air came to be; the air supplies the breath of life. You call forth rain and snow from the heavens; fresh water nourishes people and the land, causing the earth to sprout and yield fruit, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater. You established the seasons and appointed times, year after year displaying Your magnificent greatness. So shall the word that comes from Your mouth accomplish what pleases You and prosper in the thing for which You sent it. So shall the redemption accomplished by Christ bring sinners out from sin with joy and guide them in peace. We know that for every sinner who repents, there is joy in heaven, the mountains and hills break into song, and the trees of the field clap their hands. O God, this is Your purpose, this is the covenant You have established! May those who return to You in repentance, including us, worship You daily in spirit and in truth, uphold the virtues of Christ, and proclaim to the world the great love of God! May people, as they celebrate festive times, look up to God in heaven, admire the wonders wrought by Your hands, and praise You! May we who now live in grace faithfully fulfill our roles until the day the crown of glory is reserved for us. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
