What makes you feel nostalgic?
In my childhood into teens, people were friendly and trustworthy in the neighbourhood, and the love-sharing scents were the scents of the community. This kind of relationship is gradually diminishing due to robust crimes such as street deceptions, online deceptions and personal mobile phone deceptions. Scents of deception are permeating all walks of life. The more advanced technology the world pursues, the more sophisticated deception tactics the thieves use. Hundreds of thousands of people are victimised and millions of dollars stolen on a daily count. Fear of being the next victim blows the minds of millions across the globe.
Not only do I miss the good old days, but also many others of my generation do, too. Where trust between and among people is lost, the lovingkindness relationship with others is gone. Due to the fading light of trust, a neighbour living five feet away from your door does not say “hello” even bumping into each other. Who would not feel nostalgic about those good old days where neighbours were each other’s handy helper.
I feel nostalgic about this but am not surprised to witness this for the Lord Jesus Christ has prophesied that due to the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold. Here is the time we live in, what can and should we do as Christians to connect or reconnect people to a love-sharing and trusting relationship, say, starting from our next door neighbour, a street scavenger, or a beggar etc.?

Matthew 24:10-14
“At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
2 Timothy 3:1-5
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”
