Daily Prompt

What’s the thing you’re most scared to do? What would it take to get you to do it?

On the earth, the most scary thing to happen is that of losing control of one’s own life.  Commitment to a mission or to a person is regarded by someone as losing control of their own lives.

Freedom is better than gold, and free from sinning is the best of all treasures.  People who act against the law of people are subject to prosecution and judgement by the court of law.  If people sin against the law of God, they will be subject to judgement by the Lord Jesus Christ, with the worst punishment handed down being the eternal death.

Good things with good outcomes but scary, we could or should do.  If people sin against God, the consequences will be most scary.  The law of God goes beyond the law of people, where failure to do good is subject to the Lord’s judgement, too (James 4:17).

Being scared of committing to Jesus Christ is the excuse of many people who reject Him.  People who are scared of committing themselves to Christ are indeed scared of committing themselves to anyone or anything.  Commitment is one of the scariest things in a sense that nothing can break or change one’s devotion and steadfastness to what he or she is committed to.

Truly, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ requires a lifelong commitment.  Faith in Jesus is subject to persecution as the world hates Him (John 15:18-19).  A believer’s commitment to the Lord is subject to test, against persecution or against martyrdom.  This would be a scary and painful experience for any Christian to endure.  There is, however, a choice—a choice to hold steadfast and then rest in eternal peace,  or a choice to deny the Lord for temporal relief but eternal gnashing in the lake of fire.

Friends, may I ask what is really the scariest thing for you to do —to receive Jesus and commit to Him, or to reject or deny Him?

John 3:16-18

Whoever does not believe in Jesus Christ, the one and only Son of God, stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of His one and only Son.
