Daily Prompt

You get some great, amazingly fantastic news. What’s the first thing you do?

I give thanks and praise to God, who is the source of all grace (John 3:27).  I also give thanks to those people who contribute to the success, i.e. the good news, whether it relates to my personal matters or it relates to people in general.  If it relates to me personally, my thanks will not just be by words, but also by deeds to show my gratitude is genuine and sincere, and to share the fruit of the success.

In ancient times, the people of God built an altar to the LORD and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to give thanks to God for His grace bestowed upon them; such as Noah right at the aftermath of the flood, Abraham on answering the call of God to leave his household and receive the blessings of God (Genesis 12:8), and the prophet Elijah on Mount Carmel to call for repentance from the Israelites by demonstrating God is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel (1 Kings 18:30-38).

Today, Christians give thanks and praise to God by offering their bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is their spiritual act of worship (Roman 12:1).

Apart from giving thanks to God for the good news as posted on today’s daily prompt, I give thanks and praise to God every day for the really GOOD NEWS—the Gospel, which is the power of God for the salvation of every one who believes.  For in the gospel, righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” (Roman 1:16-17; Habakkuk 2:4).

My soul glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour.

Psalm 121

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”

Luke 2:10-14

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah (Jesus Christ), the Lord… “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
