Daily Prompt

Which animal would you compare yourself to and why?

The books of gospel pair Jesus with four symbols respectively.  The pairings are: Matthew with King, Mark with Servant, Luke with Sacrifice, and John with Eagle.  The Eagle soars higher than the rest, symbolizing John’s lofty, theological view.  It begins not on Earth, but in eternity—In the beginning was the Word (John 1:1), focusing on Jesus’s divine nature as the Son of God.

Eagles have exceptional eyesight, flying in the sky across almost every continent, and inhabiting forests, mountains and coastal areas without any restriction.

They are frequently used as symbols of vision, strength, courage and freedom, appearing on national flags and emblems.

If I had to pair myself with an animal, I would choose eagle, for I have become the daughter of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

May all Christians have the foresight of the Eagle (John) to see from a heavenly perspective, the strength and authority of the King (Matthew) to stand firm in the truth, the endurance of the Servant (Mark) to labour tirelessly in love, and the mobility and surrender of the Sacrifice (Luke) to go wherever we are sent!

May that vision carry the good news (the gospel) to every corner of the earth.  Amen!
