Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus Christ,

I miss You!  Ever since I encountered You, this finite life of mine has become an infinite existence.  Though I once struggled in the dust of this world, now I am rooted upon the eternal Rock, building an infinite future.  Lord, You are my Rock, my infinite future.  I have no longing for this worldly dust; I only yearn for the face of the Lord—once seen, never forgotten; the grace of the Lord—once tasted, ever desired; and the love of the Lord—once received, never released.  Lord, Your love and grace are vast beyond measure—no scale can gauge them, no vessel contain them; indeed, the whole world could not hold them.  Without love, there is no grace; without grace, there is no righteousness; without righteousness, life itself cannot stand.  You are humanity’s threefold treasure—just as the body perishes without air, living water, and food, so the soul faces eternal death without faith, hope, and love.

God has set me apart from the world through truth, and that truth is You.  You laid down Your life so that I might live; You ascended the cross for love, and I take up my own cross to follow You.  Lord, Your cross is immeasurably heavy, yet mine is light, for it is upheld by Your gracious hand.  You accomplished salvation, granting me the hope of a place at the heavenly banquet.  Your faithfulness is my lifelong reliance, the guiding light that leads me forward.  All that is good in me is found in You alone.

How I envy the three years when Your disciples walked, worked, dwelt, and dined with You on earth.  I do not seek earthly riches or honour; I only ask for a place in my Father’s heavenly home—for where You are, there is home.  With You, I am content.  Lord, I long for You.  May this prayer carry my yearning across the distance and bring it before Your throne.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
