Daily Prompt

How often do you say “no” to things that would interfere with your goals?

Life is full of “No” and “Yes”.  Saying “No” or “Yes”requires wisdom, for wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning.  True wisdom starts with a deep, reverent awe and respect for God, not just intellectual knowledge.

Likewise, life is full of opportunities, and yet failures are no strangers to all.  The saying of “Failure is the mother of success” works only for those who learn from their failures to avoid repeating their failures.

Goal-setting is about saying “No” to those things that could interfere with a goal, and risk control is about managing the risks of saying “No” to the goal.  Plans without contingency measures are highly susceptible to failure because they assume a perfect and static environment.  Albeit with contingency plans, unforeseeable forces are still unforeseen.

“No pain no gain” is true, but people still want gain not pain.  Only those who accept the reality of no pain no gain can see that pain adds flavour to the pleasure of gain.  Accepting the fact that pain and gain goes hand-in-hand is wise, it is wiser to understand who controls everything.  No matter how flawless a goal is set, or how watertight a plan is made, no body can absolutely prevent accident from happening.  Controlling seen and unseen forces rests solely with God’s sovereign power.

As the Lord Jesus Christ’s follower, I must say “No” to all those which could interfere with the goal of following the Lord.  Say “No” to crime, “No” to sin, and “No” to all which are not pleasing to God.  Oh Lord, I can only do so with the wisdom, the power and the strength God bestows upon me.  May the Lord go before me and clear any obstacles, barriers, or distractions that could change, interrupt or delay the goals and purpose You have set for my life.  May Your purpose override any opposing force.
