Prayer

Most High God,

Hallowed be Your name.  In darkness, You are the sun; in times of trouble, You are salvation.  You are the God of grace and peace; You have never withheld any good thing from those who walk uprightly and put their hope in You.  The redemptive grace accomplished by Your beloved Son has come to all who believe, and the promise of eternal life has become our hope.  The peace we enjoy in this world is also a gift from You.  O God, when we endure the storms of life, You wrap us in Your lovingkindness as a garment, so that though we feel the cold, we are not frozen; though we face the dryness, we are not parched.  We give You thanks.

We intercede for our relatives, friends, and even strangers who live in suffering or sickness.  May Your gracious hand sustain them through their trials, and may they encounter the Lord in the midst of hardship.  We firmly believe that under Your gracious hand, the lonely are no longer alone, the helpless are no longer helpless, and even the despairing find hope.

Father, we pray with boldness, for You have never withheld any good thing from Your children who look to You.  In the faith we have in Christ, we join together in prayer, looking to Your mercy: may the sick be healed, may broken families be reunited, may lives ravaged by war be set free.  We hope that these testimonies of healing and deliverance will become a fragrant offering to God, who loves the world.

We pray that Your will and righteousness be done on earth, and that with Your mighty hand You uphold Your churches everywhere—that they may not be blinded by false justice, nor follow the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of mockers.  We long for watchmen raised by You to keep the lamps burning night and day, persevering without weariness until the Lord returns.

May believers everywhere, in these turbulent times, discern right from wrong, hold fast to the truth, and walk side by side.  May our heartfelt longing for You, our thirst to walk with You—every whispered prayer—rise straight to Your feet.

We pray in the name of Jesus Christ.  Amen!
