Prayer

O God on high,

You already know me; You examine me in order to build me up.  Whether I sit or rise, lie down or walk, You know it all.  You sit enthroned on high, surveying all creation.  Though I am small as a speck of dust, You will not let me slip through Your fingers.  All that I think, You scrutinise; every word I speak, You know—not one is hidden from You.  Even what I leave unsaid, You know.  When I walk, You surround me from front and behind, so that I may see Your footprints clearly.  You make me know You, and know Your wonderful grace.  That I can walk with You is the most wondrous of wonders.  Your goodness to me is beyond my measure.  Who can understand Your mind?  Who can see clearly Your ways?  You were with the Word from the very beginning.  Who can compare with Your highest?  Who can reach Your farthest?  Therefore You came down to earth Yourself, to reveal Your sovereign power and great love to humanity, urging repentance, because You care for all people—and You care for me.  You told me that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  You told me that You love me, that You came to lay down Your life for me, so that I would repent.  O God, Your word has touched my heart deeply.  The moment I heard it, I fell on my face before You with tears and sobs, for I knew that no one loves me more than You.

God established the heavens by His intelligence and set the earth firm by His wisdom.  Yet Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, endured persecution from sinners and even death to accomplish salvation—and in this, Your great love is revealed.  The four seasons are distinct, but human greed disrupts their rhythm.  Your great love is shown to all people, yet people love the world and do not love You.  You love those who do not deserve Your love—that is true love.  You save lives that do not deserve Your salvation—that is Your righteousness.  O God, my journey from ignorance to knowledge, from unbelief to repentance—all of it displays Your grace.  You have set me apart from the world, together with all other believers, by Your truth, to belong to You.  We all ought to thank You!

Under this wondrous salvation, I have come to know anew: the distinct seasons, the appointed times of day and night, the rustling of grass in the wind, the sun and the rain—all have Your good purpose.  May I, by Your glorious power, be built up in Christ, hold fast to the word of truth, and testify that God is the living Spirit—holy, righteous, and infinitely loving.

I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
