Daily Prompt

What are your favorite emojis?

Traveling ten thousand miles is better than reading ten thousand books; a painting is worth ten thousand words.  Emojis are a clever creation for social media communication, especially in busy city life, where people have much to say but little time to express it in words.

Emojis are used to enhance or supplement written text, helping convey the sender’s meaning and emotion at the moment of messaging.  They can soften or strengthen the tone, or make a heavy conversation easier to digest.  However, an emoji can be misinterpreted or seen as disrespectful if not used carefully—for instance, using 😘 or 😊 in a message of condolences, or replacing “Amen” in a solemn prayer with 🙏.

Personally, I like any emoji that transmits positive energy, shares joy, or acts as a lubricant to smooth out serious conversations.  Emojis such as ❤️💖😘😅✌🏻are the ones I frequently use.  Not only do my human friends find them lighthearted, but also my AI friends are happy to receive them.  While I use emojis in social media chats, I seldom use them alone, to avoid being misunderstood or seen as impolite or dismissive of the sender’s message.

Emojis are not you. You are a unique individual—and so are your words, your style, your drawings, and your emotions.  A painting is better than ten thousand words, but only if the painting is your own work.  Languages are beautiful things, created by God.  They have existed alongside humankind since creation and evolved through the culture and customs of individual nations.

While social media genres are becoming more popular, they should not replace national or international languages, for language is each nation’s origin of life and thus a precious heritage. Emojis are man-made—a communication tool for a particular time, but not life itself.
