Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus Christ,

Living in this corrupt generation, the light calls to me, but the darkness tries to keep me.  Yet in that moment, You received me with Your salvation.  The wind beats against me, the rain strikes me, yet in You I am safe and secure.  God’s love for the world, His saving work, and His building of new life—these are not vague ideals or empty words on paper, but a living testimony in my own life.  To live as a new creation in Christ is grace upon grace, joy upon joy.

Lord Jesus, not only have You prepared a place for me in our Heavenly Father’s house, but here on earth You have also given me a dwelling place in the name of God—and that place is my heart.  Lord, though You are exalted and seated at the right hand of the Father, You have never left my heart, because I constantly feel Your love within it.  In the storm, You guide me forward and make my path smooth; in the cold, You warm my heart, so that even as I lie down, I can sleep in peace.

May I not hide only in God’s loving mercy, nor sigh over my own weakness any longer.  Instead, may I be united with the Lord who makes me righteous, so that God’s will may be accomplished in me.  Lord, please spur me on always with Your thorn-crowned head, Your pierced hands, and Your covenanted blood.  If my hands hang down, let them be ashamed; if my legs grow weak, let them be humbled.  Let my heart remain open to serve the Lord who gave His life for me, bringing those who are suffering and hopeless before You, so that You Yourself may bestow grace.  Remind also those who are rich and joyful to give for Your sake.

May the lives and testimonies of God’s children cause people to see that meeting You, receiving You, and glorifying You is the greatest blessing.  May the work done by Christians cause people to see God’s grace everywhere, and the eternal life given by Christ displayed in the smiling faces of the suffering.  Let the sick be healed by You, the weary be helped, the powerless be strengthened, and the weak be upheld by You.  May we give willingly, lead others to You, and share in Your love.

In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen!
