Daily Prompt

Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?

Quotes reflect our values and beliefs.  Most people have at least one that serves as a comfort or a guide.  The first that comes to my mind for everyone is: “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life” (Proverb 4:23).

We live in the age of the internet—who doesn’t use online platforms for work or entertainment?  Over the past thirty years, the internet has permeated all walks of life: changing how we work and study, opening new business opportunities, and even creating young entrepreneurs with few resources.  Knowledge is no longer restricted to a privileged class; it’s freely shared online.  Knowledge gives us wider choices, but wisdom—rarely sought after—guides us to make the right choice.

Yet whose wisdom is true wisdom? And which quote is the right quote?

A quote from Confucius or a renowned scholar may spark new energy for work, but the flood of quotes online can confuse rather than inspire.  Ultimately, choosing the right source or quote is itself an act of wisdom.

For me personally, I believe that “the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom” (Psalm 111:10), and that every word from God’s mouth is the food of life (Matthew 4:4). “For the word of God is alive and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).

As God has shown me the wisdom to guard my heart, I enjoy everything that flows from it.  That’s why my lifelong quote is “to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with my God” (Micah 6:8).

Every person has a destiny, but wisdom pairs that destiny with opportunity.  Don’t let your heart be afraid any longer.  Find wisdom—then you find the guardian of your heart.

May you find the right quote you live your life by❣️
