What gives you direction in life?
From birth, every human being needs direction in life, yet not everyone has the freedom to decide their destiny. Some are born to inherit a kingship or a family business, while others are expected to marry someone their parents approve of—not someone they love. And there are those who are free to choose their direction but are not entirely clear about their choices. Among the answers to “What gives you direction in life?”, “love,” “hope,” and “faith” are commonly seen. What, then, gives me direction?
In life, God Himself is my direction, but it took time to realise He is the one for me. The Bible says that Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God, is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, yet I have only come to experience this truth through time and lived experience. God guides me and provides all I need to follow Him. For instance, God has guided me through my lifelong career to a beautiful closure, and He is continuously building me up in Christ through my volunteer work with patients and young students, as well as strengthening me with His Word.
To me, faith is not an annex to life—it is life itself. And God is not one of many gods, but the one and only God.
Without direction, one may lose the anchor of their life. As for me, Jesus Christ is that anchor—a life that lives eternally.
May you find your direction in life!
