Daily Prompt

If you had to give one life-changing tip, what would it be?

✨ To Live for Today ✨

Yesterday is gone.

Today is for living, not for pondering.

Tomorrow has not yet come.

To relive yesterday? No.

I have learned from it—but I will not remain in it.

To pre-live tomorrow? No.

The sun has yet to rise on that day.

Yesterday deserves a glance, nothing more.

Tomorrow belongs to tomorrow, not to now.

It is today I live.

I face today’s challenges with today’s strength.

I dance today’s waltz with today’s music.

I entrust today’s opportunities with hope for tomorrow.

Today, I engage, I enjoy, and I explore.

For tomorrow—may it come for me to do it again.

As a Christian, my immediate answer to this question is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ—who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). In Him, I have found true wisdom: never give up, but learn to give in. For yielding is sometimes the strongest move we can make. We live, and we must let others live too—for all things can work together for the good of all.

Taking a step back opens up a whole new world. Yet giving in is not giving up. Only when you yield do you gain a wider view. But give up on life itself, and you forsake every day, everything, and everyone—including yourself.

This is why I push back against the overused Chinese proverb: “Enjoy wine today while there is wine; let tomorrow’s worries come tomorrow.” It has misled many into a pessimistic, not resilient, view of life. Your problems don’t disappear when you’re drunk. They wait at your doorstep until you wake up.

Scripture, however, offers a better lens: “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34). This redirects our focus to what we hold in our hands today, and releases us from unnecessary anxiety.

For me, living for today has never meant living recklessly. I believe in living fully today—while planning wisely for tomorrow, even preparing for the worst. This balance has served me well through 35 years of my career and has given me a secure foundation for retirement.

So if I were to offer one life-changing tip to anyone, it would be this: anchor your life in something greater than yourself. Live each day with intention and plan wisely for the future—but rest your hand in the One who already holds all tomorrows.
