What is your favorite quote?

On 1 May 2026, I shared one of my favourites: “Do you have a quote you live your life by—or one you often think of?”

Quotes carry the living history of their writers, and there are so many for us to mirror, to echo, or to meditate on.

That reflection inspired this poem:

✨The Living Pulse✨

Old embers warm the remembering breast,

Yet gratitude must breathe today—

For time is swift, and hearts find rest

Only when thanks show them the way.

This is the living pulse—to hold, release, and stay.

The mortal path is steep and torn,

With stones that turn the surest feet;

We stumble through the dusk and morn,

And call the shadowed road complete—

Yet still the living pulse beats on, in loss and in defeat.

If thankfulness is slow to rise,

If pride or weariness delay,

Then tomorrow’s grief will veil the skies

And haunt the night with yesterday—

For the living pulse demands its due before we fade away.

So cherish now the hand that feeds,

The voice that speaks, the light that gleams;

Plant gratitude in humble deeds,

Not in the castles of your dreams—

For the living pulse is fragile, like the shimmer on a stream.

And when the final hour draws near,

May you not mourn the gifts unspent,

But whisper, with a heart sincere:

“I loved, I thanked, I knew, I lent—

My living pulse was fully given, and fully content.”

For me, that pulse finds its truest rhythm in Jesus Christ—the Lord of eternal life.
