Daily Prompt

Which is the best restaurant in your city?

A few days ago, I answered another prompt about the best local dish I had ever eaten while travelling. Today’s prompt asks about the best restaurant. Apparently, eating what and where to eat is the common lifestyle of city dwellers.

Like choosing best dishes, cost often dictates restaurant choice, followed by best taste. But for me, it’s whom I dine with that matters most.

As I have a food allergy, I cannot eat food that is seasoned with MSG. In the city I dwell, almost all restaurants use MSG, thereby leaving me with limited choices—the one that provides healthy food and good service is hard to find. Besides food and service, what it truly means to me is dining companion—whom I will deeply enjoy with. But the best food and best restaurant I truly long for is the Lord’s Supper in heaven.

Before that comes to pass, I treasure sharing the Lord’s love at the dining table with all who matter most to Him. May this poem remind you of nothing but the best restaurant—the kind of warmth that can only be found at home.

✨ The Flavour of Human Warmth ✨

Where people are, so too is warmth alive—

When they depart, even the walls grow cold.

Some say this old-town heart has had its day—

I say it only waits for you to say the way.

In city homes, to share each meal is hard,

But not a thing beyond what love can guard.

To mourn what’s gone, with nothing left to give,

Will never call the vanished past to live.

Tradition lives when hands refuse to tire,

When hearts are willing, kindling the fire.

To wish for warmth at home is not a dream—

It’s whether each will tend that small, warm gleam.

We never know what treasure we possess

Until we wake to find it empty none.

Yet I have tasted more than earth can give—

A table where the broken learn to live.

Not by the menu, nor the chef’s renown,

But by the Love that turns a meal a crown.

So ask me not for names or streets or price—

The best restaurant is found in paradise.

Until that day, I’ll set my table wide,

And share His love with all who sit inside.

For warmth is not a custom left behind—

It is the choice to love, in heart and mind.
