Prayer

God who created the universe and all things,

Our God! While Your promised earth still remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, day and night shall never cease. You also promised never again to curse the ground because of human evil intentions. Though we still see the four seasons, human greed and wickedness have thrown the seasons into disorder. Winter brings scorching heat, summer brings hail, forest wildfires rage, landslides occur—these are all signs of global warming. Earthquakes strike everywhere, the seas roar, homes are shattered, natural disasters and human tragedies are seen daily; these too are warnings of the end times. How lamentable that those in power have not yet awakened, the greedy have not yet repented, and the sleeping masses are still asleep. How then should we, who have been set apart by the truth, conduct ourselves? Do we practise justice? Are we lovers of mercy? Do we truly guard the vulnerable and help the poor? God, You know, and each of our own hearts knows as well. May those who should repent repent, may those who should strive strive, so that all may recognise us as God’s heirs, belonging to You; for only life itself is true worship, and only it can manifest Your holy, righteous, and loving nature. If not, we ask You to discipline the hard-hearted, give wisdom to the foolish, open the purses of the miserly, make the lazy diligent, and bring shame to those who only speak but do not act. God, as You have said, while there is still hope, discipline us; do not let us die, nor let us stand ashamed before You at the Lord’s table. The human heart devises many plans, but You direct our paths. Therefore, we ask the Spirit of enlightenment to purify our hearts, increase our strength, that together we may keep Your commandments, obey the truth, pursue justice, show mercy to the poor, be humble and kind, and treat others with sincerity. May You use us in this chaotic and restless generation as ready helpers to many, sharing the Lord’s love, delivering hope, and leading people to the Lord. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
